Jenny Allen is Milnrow’s Member Pioneer, a role with the remit of promoting The Co-operative’s commitment to improving local communities.

In her role as Member Pioneer, Jenny will be working hard to connect people within the community of Milnrow. Her aim is to bring people together, start conversations, identify important issues and use The Co-operative’s values and benefits to make positive changes that are important to the local area, and ultimately to be the catalyst for new ideas and projects.

The Member Pioneer role considers evidence taken from the Co-operatives Community Wellbeing Index, which has gathered information from 28,000 communities and scored them on eveything from education and health, to transport, equality and community participation. Whilst Milnrow and Newhey score above average in most categories, both villages are well below average in voice and participation, and a key part of Jenny’s role will be to give the local community a platform to share their views and help shape the thinking for the future of the area.

Jenny works flexibly for 4 hours a week, with the aim of spending most of this time within the community. You can contact her using any of the methods below.
